Butz Family of Companies attends 26th annual LCI Congress

The Butz Family of Companies recently attended the 26th Annual Lean Construction Institute (LCI) Congress, held in San Diego, California. This prestigious event brought together industry leaders and professionals to share knowledge and experiences in Lean design and construction.

The LCI Congress is renowned for its comprehensive program, which includes presentations, live labs, and networking opportunities. This year’s theme, “Surfing the Wave of Lean Design and Construction,” emphasized the importance of mutual respect, field execution, project optimization, and continuous improvement. Our team, consisting of Steve Lee, Emily Lowe, Dan Flickinger, Justin Wingenfield, Jon Witmer, Mark Yatcilla, and Derek Bauer, participated in various sessions and workshops, gaining valuable insights and strategies to enhance our Lean journey.

Our team was proud to be part of this significant gathering, where we had the opportunity to learn from and network with peers across the industry. One of the highlights of the event was Emily Lowe and Dan Flickinger serving as LCI Instructors.  Emily served as an instructor for Target Value Delivery Module 1: Learning the Fundamentals and Target Value Delivery Module 2: Setting the Stage for Success. Dan served as an instructor for Introduction to Lean Deployment Planning.

Emily Lowe shared her thoughts on the event, saying, “I look forward to LCI Congress each year for many reasons… but most importantly it’s a chance for me to recharge my batteries with new, inspiring ideas that I can bring back to the Enterprise. Lean Project Delivery is growing in our industry, and more and more Owners are connecting to Lean learning opportunities [like LCI Congress] so that they can understand and demand a better way of delivering projects. Our ability to use Lean Project Delivery continues to be a differentiator for our Enterprise, but it is not without attention to continued Lean learning and a mindset of thinking differently that we will continue to lead the way in creating this industry change.”

This year’s LCI Congress was an invaluable experience for our team, reinforcing our commitment to Lean principles and continuous improvement. We look forward to applying the knowledge and strategies gained to further our Lean journey and drive innovation within our company.
