Butz announces key promotions

The Butz Family of Companies, consisting of Alexander Building Construction Co. (Harrisburg/State College), Alvin H. Butz, Inc. (Lehigh Valley), and Shoemaker Construction Co. (Conshohocken) is pleased to announce key promotions, reflecting our commitment to leadership development and excellence in construction.

MIKE BUTZ
General Manager

Mike Butz appointed as General Manager.
As a sixth-generation member of the Butz family, Mike continues to strengthen a legacy of over 175 years in the construction industry, dating back to covered bridge construction in the mid-1800’s. In his role, Mike oversees all projects and teams to ensure their success and also oversees daily operations of the business. He also serves as an executive-level contact for clients. In addition to his role as GM, Mike, along with his brother Steve, continue to take on additional oversight and management responsibilities as Officers and Principals of the firm.

Mike holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Labor Relations from The Pennsylvania State University. He is involved in various community organizations, serving on the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors and Executive Committee, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and is on the Associate Board of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation. Additionally, he serves on DeSales University’s President’s Advisory Council, is a Trustee on Laborers’ Local 1174 Health and Welfare fund, and is a member of the United Way Tocqueville Society.


STEVE BUTZ
Senior Project Manager

Steve Butz promoted to Senior Project Manager.
Steve, a sixth-generation Butz family builder, continues the construction legacy in the Lehigh Valley. He recently oversaw the $40 million Da Vinci Science Center project. He is involved in several current projects, including the Community Action Development Corporation of Allentown’s new Youth Center and Rodale Institute campus projects, while taking on additional operational duties throughout the enterprise. In addition to his role as Senior Project Manager, Steve, along with his brother Mike, continue to take on additional oversight and management responsibilities as Officers and Principals of the firm.

He earned a degree in Architectural Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and is a member of the Advisory Board for Penn State Lehigh Valley, the Allentown Symphony Association Board, and the United Way Tocqueville Society.


STEVE LEE
Executive Vice President

Steve Lee promoted to Executive Vice President.
In this new role as Executive Vice President, Steve will spearhead the strategic vision of the enterprise, manage succession planning for a six-generation family-owned business, and oversee various departments within the company. Additionally, he will provide executive leadership for several major clients and complex projects.

With more than 30 years of industry experience, Steve has held roles as an owner, designer, and builder, successfully delivering projects across the region. His extensive background has driven his ambition to integrate lean principles into the building industry, fostering team cultures that prioritize people and embrace continuous improvement.

A Penn State graduate, he is involved with the Lean Construction Institute, Construction Owners Association of America, and other leading industry organizations. Steve also serves as President of Lititz Borough Council, participates in committees within the Lititz community, and coaches basketball at Warwick High School.


ROB AVITABILE
Project Executive

Rob Avitabile promoted to Project Executive.
Rob has been employed at Alvin H. Butz, Inc. for 15 years. During his tenure, he completed 35 projects worth $1.2 billion, including PPL Center, Wind Creek Bethlehem Casino, National Museum of Industrial History, various Parkland School District projects, and numerous local Lehigh Valley projects.

As Project Executive, he will be responsible for oversight of the construction team from preconstruction through construction and occupancy. Rob has strong technical, management, and supervisory skills in all phases and extensive experience in construction management. He is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University’s Architectural Engineering program.


KYLE COLLINA
Project Executive

Kyle Collina promoted to Project Executive.
In 16 years, Kyle Collina has managed 29 construction projects worth $739 million at Lehigh University, Muhlenberg College, Penn State University, Villanova University, Temple University, PPL Center, and B. Braun.

In this role, he will ensure everyone on the project remains sensitive to project goals and the importance of developing a facility that serves client’s needs. He will also guide teams and provide mentorship. Kyle obtained his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Lehigh University. Within the community, he is a member of Construction Management Association of America, Wildlands Conservancy, and mentors Lehigh Civil/Environmental Engineering students.
