This hospital was built just for kids. The pediatric unit includes 30 private patient rooms each with a colorful animal theme from “Red Ram” to “Indigo Insect,” treatment areas, playful lounge spaces, and staff rooms. A new entry was built adjacent to the main hospital to welcome patients. An interior light sculpture called the Kaledioppos contains 519 glass-blown beans handcrafted by the community and symbolizes hope. The exterior has multi-colored lighting pointing skyward. Demolition and renovations were coordinated to minimize disruptions the NICU below. SRA, ICRA, and ILSM was required in the active clinical environment.
