For Pete’s Sake Groundbreaking

Today we celebrated the groundbreaking of Pete’s Dream, the nation’s first-of-its-kind cancer respite center dedicated to connection and healing for adult cancer patients and their families. Alvin H. Butz is proud to serve as the construction manager on this project and to be supporting the incredible work of For Pete’s Sake. The respite center is located on 32 acres adjacent to Woodloch, Legacy Resort Collection in Hawley, Pennsylvania. Every element of Pete’s Dream, from the art studio to its interfaith chapel, is intentionally designed using more than 20 years of data from For Pete’s Sake respite participants and oncology professionals. For Pete’s Sake’s current program capacity allows the organization to provide the healing power of respite to approximately 700 people each year. Now, the new Pete’s Dream will significantly scale that impact, serving more than 4,400 patients and their loved ones annually in a dedicated and purposefully designed space. “Respite gives patients and their families a rare chance to step away from the stress of their diagnosis and simply spend time together,” said Marci Schankweiler, founder and CEO of For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation. “It’s mission critical that Pete’s Dream is a safe, serene environment for all. We are so grateful to our partners who share a commitment to the families who will walk through these doors seeking healing and hope.” For more information about Pete’s Dream, visit: PetesDream.org
