Alvin H. Butz joined Upper Macungie Township leaders, elected officials, firefighters, project partners, and community members on July 22nd to celebrate the groundbreaking of Upper Macungie Township Fire & Rescue Station 57.
As construction manager, Butz will oversee the renovation of the former Upper Macungie Township Police Department building and construction of a 26,000-square-foot addition. Once complete, the ~41,000-square-foot facility will serve as the centralized home of Upper Macungie Township Fire & Rescue.
The new station will consolidate the operations of Fogelsville Fire Company (Station 8), Good Will Fire Company #1 of Trexlertown (Station 25), and Upper Macungie Township Station 56. Designed to enhance emergency response capabilities and support the township’s continued growth, the facility will provide modern, efficient spaces for firefighters and emergency responders as they serve the Upper Macungie community. The station will also feature a Fire History Museum dedicated to preserving the stories, equipment, and traditions that have shaped the department and the township’s firefighting legacy.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Mike Butz, General Manager of Alvin H. Butz, delivered remarks alongside Jeff Fleischaker, Chairman of the Upper Macungie Township Board of Supervisors, and Pete Christ, Fire Commissioner. The speakers reflected on the importance of the project and its lasting impact on the safety and well-being of township residents.

The project team includes Upper Macungie Township as owner; Godshall Kane O’Rourke Architects, LLC (GKO) as architect; Alvin H. Butz, Inc. as construction manager; Snyder Hoffman Associates as MEP engineer; Herbert, Rowland & Grubic, Inc. (HRG) as civil engineer; and Baker, Ingram & Associates as structural engineer.
Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
